The title of the next Batman game may have been released through domain registrations on the website, along with a possible confirmation that a Suicide Squad game is in the works.
The registrations filed earlier this month and discovered by ResetEra's DriftingOrbit appear to point to Gotham Knights as the next Batman game. Registrations for a Suicide Squad game and a project entitled Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League were also discovered.
The legitimacy of the titles is strengthened by the fact that the domains have been submitted by MarkMonitor, who also manages the registration for the WB Games website.
Batman: Gotham Knights was a comic series that ran from 2000 to 2006 and featured Batman and his extended family with Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, Oracle, Catwoman and Alfred. A game with the same title will likely put these characters in a more important role compared to the Batman: Arkham games. Rumor has it that Gotham Knights is working on the WB Games Montreal, which was behind the Prequel Batman: Arkham Origins.
Suicide Squad is said to be the next project from Rocksteady, the studio behind the Batman: Arkham trilogy.
DC Fandome on August 22nd
References to upcoming Batman and Suicide Squad games support the announcement that WB Games has planned something for DC FanDome, a free virtual event on August 22nd. The new titles can be announced at the event, but without official confirmation, players will have to wait to do so.
DC FanDome will also include film, TV and comic announcements, including the actors and creators of The Batman and Snyder Cut of The Justice League.
Digital Trends has contacted DC to confirm whether WB Games will announce new titles at the virtual event. We will update this article as soon as we hear something.
